8-member team sworn-in to lead the Tan Tan/Toucarie/Savanne Paille /Cottage Village Council

An 8-member team comprising Vernon Jno Baptiste, Sandra Daniel Andre, Bruno Lamothe, Romilia Romain, Ashmar Austrie, Caryl Baron, Josephine Duverney, and Roseann Mason, were sworn-in to lead the Tan Tan/Toucarie/Savanne Paille /Cottage, during the Sixteenth Inaugural Meeting of the Council, held on Friday 17th February 2017.
 
The swearing in ceremony followed an election which was held on 25th January 2017. Vernon Jno Baptiste received 77 votes and was named chairman. Jno Baptiste said “In this team, members and leaders are very important developmental groups in our communities. They are people who aren’t afraid of putting themselves forward, they have worked with and for you, and I applaud you the villagers, for allowing them to continue doing so as a council”.
 
Jno Baptiste encouraged the villagers to work alongside the Council, because without their assistance and that of the Parliamentary Representative and Local Government, “village councils would only be just a name”. He added, “Thus far we are truly thankful as a council, for the assistance and support given by the Parliamentary Representative and government by extension. With their assistance, we have seen hundreds of thousands of dollars being spent in our community, for roads & drain construction, and also for maintaining our sporting venues”.
 
Gregory Daniel, who was the previous Chairman, did not contest the election as he is out of state.
