A two-day Planning and work plan formulation underneath the theme “Strengthening the Ministry of Agriculture Food and Fisheries (MOAF) competences in planning and monitoring of programs.” Kicks off today. Representative of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture (IICA), Diane Francis says that this strategic plan isn’t the end all solution but rather it has to be living document because things change, and therefore when that does, we ought to have plan to guide us through that transition. Mrs Francis added that often, there tends to be difficulty moving from the pages of the strategic plan into the action working manifestation of those ideas. This is where the institutions’ strategic planning formation comes into effect, and is being recognized through two stages. The first one, being able to recognize the role of the division of agriculture in pursuing & implementing & executing that strategic plan, or an institutional angle. The second being more of an individualistic angle, where one would then identify their role within the over-all plan. She says, if the roles of the institution and the individual are not identified then, it will be more difficult to see positive and effective results. With these results, she says media & communication plays an important role in ensuring that persons get access to this important information.
