A UK court will try former Dominican diplomat Diezani Alison-Madueke in June, for alleged corruption3/2/2017 Media reports indicate that a court in the UK will try former Dominica Diplomat Diezani Alison-Madueke in June 2017, for alleged corrupt practices. She is also a former Petroleum Resources Ministerof Nigeria,
The trial has been fixed for June with new evidence from the proceedings of a Federal High Court, in respect of the order of final forfeiture of $153-Million, allegedly traced to the ex-minister, the report states. The National Crime Agency (NCA) in the UK arrested Alison-Madueke and four others on October 10, 2015, for alleged bribery, corruption and money laundering. The former minister, whose movement has been restricted to the UK, is still under investigation. It was reported that Alison-Madueke received Dominican citizenship on May 29, 2015, via a letter of approval from Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, and that the ex-Minister was also appointed as Dominica’s Trade & Investment Commissioner, and was given a diplomatic passport number DP0000445. When she was arrested, several media reports said the former Nigeria minister was attempting to flee to Dominica because of her citizenship, but the DLP government said there was no truth to the “rumour” and that all ties with Alison-Madueke were severed in October, 2015. Meanwhile, the DLP Government insists that her appointment asDominica’s Trade & Investment Commissioner was made after rigid ‘due diligence’ was conducted.
