She said, “We are concerned that the national association here has been unable to get itself back on its feet, and we are concerned that is happening at a time of a national crisis”. Kentish stated that it is important for all journalists to show a united front in promoting media development in Dominica. She added, “We are hoping that Dominica is represented at the next general assembly of the Association of Caribbean MediaWorkers, and be a carefully constituted and a truly representative body”. The dormant Media Workers Association of Dominica (MWAD) is still the only recognized body for media workers on the island.Recently a new body, The Dominica Press Corp, was launched and is hoping to be the body to represent media workers in Dominica. The presentation of laptops and cell phones on the weekend to select local media workers, was made possible by Free Press Unlimited and the US office of Reporters Without Borders.
