Acting PM Reginald Austrie says displaced Petite Savanne families will be resettled in January 2018

Ag PM Reginald Austrie has announced that come January 2018, the first 210 families from the community of Petite Savanne who were displaced due to TS Erika will be resettled.
 
On Sunday, Dominica commemorated the 2nd Anniversary of TS Erika which wreaked havoc in Dominica on August 27, 2015
 
Over 300 families from the Petite Savanne Community were displaced after the government deemed the area unsafe, and land was procured in the community of Bellevue Chopin for resettlement.
 
Austrie said the government is seeking to have every family resettled by July 2018.

Meantime, Minister for National Security Rayburn Blackmoore is urging residents of Petite Savanne to consider their safety as many as reconsidering moving back to the community, which was declared a disaster zone following the passage of TS Erika.
 
Blackmoore says, while there is no legislation for government to prevent people from moving back into the affected area, the residents should not put themselves at risk.
