Agricultural Economist at the University of the West Indies St Augustine Campus Dr Govind Seepersad says agriculture paid for the roads and ports in all the Caribbean countries, calling for more money to be pumped into the sector. He says this was the first industry to ever come about in the Caribbean nations, and no excuse should be made in supporting it for continued survival. Dr Seepersad was speaking at the 11th Annual NBD, UWI Open Campus National Distinguished lecture last night. Dr Seepersad says the St Augustine UWI Campus is not seeing students from the rest of the Caribbean, including Dominica enrolling in the field of Agriculture.
