She says it is in keeping with the achievement of universal access to health and universal health coverage that the Ministry of Health has seen it fit to undertake a 6 month training program at UWI, which is being funded by PAHO. Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo warning that Guyana is headed towards a constitutional crisis, Monday met with members of the diplomatic community outlining his People's Progressive Party (PPP) position on the need for fresh general elections by March.
India's High Commissioner to Guyana vs. Mahalingam, who was among the diplomats attending the meeting, later told reporters that he now has an understanding of Jagdeo's position following the collapse of David Granger government last year. Jagdeo had received the support of then government backbencher, Charrandass Persaud, on December 21st, when he moved the motion of no confidence against the coalition administration. The matter has since been taken to the courts and a ruling is expected by month end. Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro said he is willing to meet with opposition leaders and international mediators to bring about a solution to the country's ongoing political crisis, but ruled out holding any new presidential elections until 2025.
"I'm ready to sit down at the negotiating table with the opposition so that we can speak for the good of Venezuela -- for the world and its future," Maduro told Russian state news agency RIA Novosti in an interview published Wednesday. Maduro was re-elected to a six-year term last year, and though he claimed the elections were fair, international observers have questioned their legitimacy. Health Minister calls for continued collaboration of the VOSH mission with Dominica's Health Sector1/29/2019 Health Minister Dr Kenneth Darroux says the VOSH Mission celebrating 25 years is a significant milestone. He says in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria a number of health services and facilities are still compromised, hence the importance of the mission to the island. The mission completed its 25th mission last Thursday and was facilitated by the Rotary Club of Dominica and the Health Ministry. As the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy continues investigation into the recent seizure of approximately $1,876,000 worth of compressed cannabis, another Vincentian national has been apprehended and charged.
Two Vincentian males have now been charged. Godfrey King, resident of Green Hill - Liberta, and Sydney Norville, resident of Marble Hill, appeared before Magistrate Ngaoi Emanuel on Monday to answer to the charges of possession of cannabis, possession with intent to transfer, being concerned in the supply of cannabis and drug trafficking. Both men were denied bail as they are considered a flight risk and have been remanded to Her Majesty's prison until May 8th for committal proceedings. Investigations are ongoing. China has lashed out against the United States, accusing it of trying to "kill" Chinese businesses after US prosecutors indicted telecom giant Huawei on a slew of charges.
"For some time now, the United States has deployed its state power to smear and crack down on targeted Chinese companies in an attempt to kill their normal and legal business operations," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said in a statement Tuesday. He added that Beijing sees "strong political motives and manipulation" behind the US charges against Huawei, which include conspiring to steal trade secrets and dodge American sanctions on Iran. An official of the Fire and Ambulance Services Division said they responded to a call at about 8:30 on Monday night regarding a fire which was raging just across from the Government Headquarters on Hillsborough Street in Roseau. The blaze was eventually put under control. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
