Kiddies Carnival is back this year. The parade will start at 12noon on Sunday February 19th, at the Cruise Ship Berth, go through the Carnival Route in the City and culminate at Carnival City - which is the Windsor Park Stadium. The payment report for farmers affected by the trough system last November has been finalized and will soon be forwarded to the relevant office for approval. A Synthetic Athletic Track will soon be developed and constructed in Point Round, Portsmouth, according to DLP regime leader Roosevelt Skerrit, who made the announcement during a press conference on Monday morning at the Financial Center. He claims that the public has been informed that the site is currently being explored for the development of the facility, which will aid in the advancement of Dominica's track and field. The Plan of the facility will be presented to the public in due time, Skerrit added. However, the question being asked by many, is on whose land is this track being built? Is it private land? And if so, has that land been acquired and paid for, by Government? Skerrit stated that in two (2) weeks, the public will be told about additional initiatives that the government is planning to undertake, including projects that would boost the country’s tourism sector. The late Irving Shillingford was a pillar, a go-to source for guidance, etc., according to former Prime Minister Edison James, but he was not a difficult player to handle. James added that he thinks late West Indian cricketer Irving Shillingford had success at the same time as Clive Lloyd. Edison James, former prime minister of Dominica, joined the rest of the sports community in expressing their condolences for the death of the late Irving Theodore Shillingford, a national hero and a significant contributor to the sports industry, who passed away last week. Last week, former Prime Minister James expressed his profound sympathies to the late Irving Shillingford's family during the sports wrap program. He also noted that the cricket community, particularly in Dominica and the rest of the region, had suffered a huge loss. Businessman Anderson Jolly notices a select group of persons in Dominica’s society who he labels "bosses" and who have started and grown firms from nothing. He points out that because of their advancement in their fields and in society, persons like EH Charles and Hubert "Sukie" Winston are seen as bosses. Jolly elaborates on a few qualities and attributes that effective managers possess.
