​The National 4-H Club says it remains steadfast in its mission to foster youth development in Dominica, and to equipt young people with the resources they need to succeed. Demonstrating this commitment, the organization recently completed a successful collection drive, receiving generous contributions from members across the island.
 
In a show of outstanding support, HHV Whitchurch matched the donations, doubling the impact of the initiative. As a result, the National 4-H Club was able to provide essential food supplies to three deserving students at Morne Prosper Primary School, reinforcing its dedication to youth empowerment and community service.

The government’s proposed electoral Reform Bills are: Electoral Commission Bill 2024, House of Assembly Bill 2024 and Registration of Electors Bill 2024.
 
Linton spoke on Q95’s popular Global View On Q Show, recently. He pointed out that taints will still exist despite the government’s proposed Electoral Reform Bills of 2024 - The government’s efforts have now come under local and regional scrutiny by legal experts and civil society groups, who characterize the DLP’s approach as ‘sneaky and disrespectful.’

​The Government of Dominica says it recently contracted firms OYO Construction Inc. and Virtuoso Architects Ltd. (Joint Venture) to build s $7.7 million Kalinago Territory Multipurpose Center and Emergency Shelter. This facility is said to be a key part of the “Building Resilience and Adaptive Capacity to Climate Change and Disaster Risk in the Kalinago Territory” project, which also includes a Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation Plan and a public awareness campaign. 
 
This project is co-financed by the Government of Canada, through the Community Disaster Risk Reduction Fund managed by the Caribbean Development Bank and the Government of Dominica. In a recent interview with Q95 News, Kalinago Chief, Anette Thomas-Sanford, revealed a major concern which will be made public before the residents of the Kalinago Territory allow work to begin in the territory.
 
The Kalinago Chief says a major source of mineral water lies in the selected construction site and is widely used by the residents of the territory. The Kalinagos are particularly very close to the Natural Resources of the Country, they believe that Resources like water sources and the forests must be preserved by any means necessary.
 
She indicated that a town hall meeting will be held to discuss the decision of the members of the community, as to whether they would want to approve the project and sacrifice this vital water source or conclude that they would save the water resource and select another site for the Kalinago Territory Multipurpose Center and Emergency Shelter.

​Kalinago Chief Anette Thomas-Sanford calls for increased budget allocation, better communication and for to improvements in vehicles, equipment, and operational effectiveness of the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation. 
 
Earlier this month, the management of the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation received finance from the government to purchase and repair its fleet of Garbage Collection Trucks, the management team announced that collection concerns would finally be resolved after three months of the unsightly view of huge heaps of Garbage across the island, due to the lack of maintenance of the Corporations Trucks and equipment.

The Government of Dominica, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy, announces plans to host a National Symposium on Cannabis in March 2025. This event aims to initiate discussions on developing the local medical cannabis industry, with a focus on institutional reforms, investments, and incentives to support farmers and agro entrepreneurs.
 
The symposium will be a hybrid event, featuring partnership with the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) on Day 1 and in-person plenary sessions on Day 2. Discussions will cover key principles and strategies for establishing a viable and well-regulated cannabis sector.
 
The government says it is seeking to integrate cannabis cultivation into sustainable agriculture modernization, emphasizing quality production, value-added processing, stakeholder involvement and indigenous ownership within a favorable financial & regulatory framework.

​Deputy Director of the Financial Sector Supervision Department, Livia Bertin-Mark, announced that the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), in partnership with the ECCU Bankers’ Association, has established a working group with regional regulators. The initiative aims to address challenges in opening accounts, making it easier for citizens to access the formal financial system.

​Financial Expert Livia Bertin-Mark has highlighted the challenges faced by unbanked individuals, stressing that their lack of access to formal banking services leaves them underserved. Without online banking or ATM cards, these individuals struggle with basic financial transactions, making them particularly vulnerable in today's digital economy.

​Artistic Director of the Waitukubuli Dance Theatre Company, Raymond Lawrence, has announced that this year’s Teenage Pageant will feature four contestants: Hannah Joseph (Grammar Secondary School), Kerine Hailey Royer (St. Martin Secondary School), Kianna Aaron (Isiah Thomas Secondary School), and Gabrielle Esprit (Dominica Girls Guide Association). While he had hoped for more participants, as some schools opted to take a break, Lawrence remains confident that the event will still be a success.

​In an interview with Q95 News on Tuesday, Acting CEO of VF INC, Ms. Athenia Henry, gave an account of the VF Inc’s hosting of its 2025 Phenomenal Caribbean Women Symposium.
 
She summed up the event as one which “Exceeded all expectations!” Ms. Henry is pleased with Dominican and Caribbean Women's participation, as the event was filled to capacity.

​Ms. Henry also expressed gratitude to the five presenters who formed the cornerstone for the activities presented to the participants - who, according to Ms. Henry, left the symposium participants inspired and empowered to be assets in developing Dominica and the region.

​Artistic Director of the Waitukubuli Dance Theatre Company, Raymond Lawrence, highlighted the group’s 46-year tradition of organizing teen pageants during the carnival season. Reflecting on its evolution, he recalled that the event initially featured only costume and evening wear segments but has since expanded to include five or six appearances.
