​Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau Central Constituency Joseph Isaac says the work being undertaken by the Forestry Division in building back Dominica's forest should not be taken lightly.
Isaac is of the view that the forest reserve is Dominica's foremost asset and as such they have to be protected.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, María Ángela Holguín, made an official visit on Saturday to Guyana where she held a bilateral meeting with the minister of foreign affairs of Guyana, Carl Greenidge. Guyana was the sixth and last country she visited during her Caribbean tour of Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Dominican Republic and Haiti.
 
The Colombian diplomat did not visit Suriname and it seems that ties between the two countries have been strained over the issue of Venezuela. Her tour comes just after the foreign minister of Venezuela went on a global tour of the Caribbean, Africa and Asia. More recently, the foreign affairs minister of Ecuador, María Fernanda Espinosa, one of a few last remaining supporters of the Nicolas Maduro regime, visited the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Suriname. 

Cricket Australia is to send captain Steve Smith, vice-captain David Warner and batsman Cameron Bancroft home from South Africa for ball-tampering in the third Test in Cape Town.
 
However, chief executive James Sutherland says head coach Darren Lehmann was not involved in the controversy and will remain in his post.
 
Sutherland added that the sanctions to be handed down to Smith, Warner and Bancroft within the next 24 hours will be "significant".

General Secretary of the Dominica Public Service Union Thomas Letang says after meeting with DASPA’s executive on March 21st 2018, progress is being made on Port Workers behalf, regarding ongoing negotiations between DASPA and the DPSU.
 
Letang also emphasized the offer tabled by DASPA has been rejected by the Port Workers, as a result the DPSU General Secretary says, his executive is looking forward to engage DASPA again to conclude salary negotiations for the 2014 to 2016 Triennium.

She says power has been restored to some communities over the past few days.

Meanwhile Senior Customer Service representative at DOMLEC Eddision St Jean is reiterating the importance of bringing the electrical certificate from electrical division to DOMLEC to continue the process to get electricity reconnected.
This is one of a few issues which has surfaced as the company continues efforts to reconnect electricity across the island.

Minister for Foreign affairs Francine Baron says the Colombian Government will assist in the production of a new variety of cassava in the Kalinago Territory. That information following a meeting on Friday with Colombia's Foreign Minister.
She says the initiative has been successfully accomplished in Jamaica.

Meantime Baron says during the visit of the Colombian Minister, discussions were held for the establishment of a cassava processing plant within the Kalinago Territory.

Shawn Nicholas, opposition United Progressive Party (UPP) Senator in Antigua said that the public can expect more intense debate from her and her colleagues in the Upper House.
She said that the four UPP senators will be working assiduously to support the opposition’s lone Member of Parliament, Jamale Pringle.
“Coming out of the general elections, a lot of us have gotten tougher and are now willing and able to carry the fight, and to carry it to the next election cycle,” Nicholas said.
Nicholas, along with Richard Lewis, Damani Tabor and Jonathon Joseph will represent the opposition’s interests in the Upper House.
They received their instruments of appointment from Governor General Sir Rodney Williams on Monday.
The party released a statement on Sunday indicating that there was a list of eight “highly deserving persons” but only four could be considered.
