Former Journalist, Marigot MP and UWP Leader Lennox Linton has rubbished claims that the United Workers Party executive had called for the recusal of Judge Eddy Ventose from the Petitioners vs various Elected DLP government members case, which was filed within 21 days after the 2019 General Elections. Linton says Justice Ventose made a morale decision considering the call made by other legal minds in Dominica for his recusal on this matter. Beverly Baron from the West Children Federation Inc, located in Mahaut, has announced the institution’s celebration of 10 years as a Non-Governmental Organization. Speaking to Q95 recently, Beverly Baron went on to explain how the organization began operations, and its reach. Baron says the West Children Federation is an agency which advocates, Finances and create skill-based opportunities for the youth, with an age range of 0 to 24 years. Q95 news has received Official reports from Dominica Police regarding the death of 23-year-Old Damien Ernest of Backstreet Kings hill. PRO of the Dominica Police Force Simon Edwards says investigations are ongoing and Ernest’ body was found on the road leading to the Boeri Lake on Saturday 27th June 2020. The body was transported to the A&E department of the Dominica China Friendship Hospital where it was examined and officially pronounced dead by a medical doctor. After which it was transported to the Lyndhurst Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination. Meantime, Simon Edwards reports investigations are ongoing in a fatal vehicular accident which resulted in the death of Jaron Pascal, aged 19. Businessman and CEO of WICE QFM Radio Sheridan ‘Mr G’ Gregoire is advising Dominica’s Leaders to review their approach toward the Agriculture Industry. DLP Government Housing Minister Reginald Austrie wants Dominicans to Join the Government’s call for the end of sanctions placed on Venezuela by the International Community. Speaking at the 15th Anniversary Ceremony of the Petro-Caribe’ Agreement earlier this morning, he said that it is not fair that people of Venezuela who are so rich in resources are suffering because of politics. He says that the government professes to be true friends with Venezuela, and have received a lot of negative publicity because of it, and says Dominica will stand with the Venezuelan Government through good times and bad. National Health Commission member & Former President of Dominica Eliud Williams says systems and procedures are being reviewed at the hospital by the new commission, and in particular the governance structure. He says a lot of work has been done in these areas because a fundamental problem at the hospital today is the absence of clear leadership. There have been suggestions that the new Dominica-China Friendship Hospital is to be privatized, which he refutes. However, Williams says changes are coming in terms of management through a hospital authority bill which will go to parliament for debate in September. The majority shareholders of LIAT - Barbados, Antigua & Barbuda, St Vincent & the Grenadines and Dominica, met Saturday June 27, and received a report from the Board of Directors, drawing to their attention to certain issues confronting LIAT 1974 Ltd. One of the recommendations is for the winding up of LIAT 1974 Ltd operations, and to seek to create a new entity to ensure continued service in the region.
