The "Cadence-lypso Tribute Festival" is one of this year's key events of Cadence-lypso month this July. This year's Cadence-lypso month will feature a number of activities, some of which were presented last year but will now incorporate a few new features for this year. An ambitious and significant event, three nights in the summer, paying tribute to three of the greatest Cadence-lypso artists—indeed, pioneers in their own right—was described by the legend himself, Mr. Gordon Henderson.

In a few words, Minister of state in the Ministry of Blue and Green Economy and National Food Security, Hon. Senator Gregory Riviere emphasized the festival's important effects.

Sports Minister Roslyn Paul says the government of Dominica has invested over $1Million to rehabilitate the Windsor Park Sports Stadium ahead of the T20 International Cricket matches between West Indies and Bangladesh. She listed the work undertaken, and the costing. This is the first time Dominica is hosting international cricket matches in 4 years.

Attorney Gabriel Christian asks has gangsterism & lawlessness replaced Cinema & Theater which existed in Dominica in the 1960s & 1970s with two flourishing cinemas & the People's Action Theater? He reminisces on the vibrant cinema culture where the best movies from the English speaking world could be seen.

Not only was the Carib Cinema (now Prevost Cinemall) a favorite movie hangout, but the site was used for Spelling Bee contests. In 1966 our brother Lawson won such a contest and still has the gift of a book on literature that he won as a prize. Such use of the public space for education and collective effort in that vein, outside the classroom, allowed our young to forge durable beneficial relations around the acquisition of knowledge. One learnt the art of study, proper speech and overall civility was fostered. Where are the current social instrumentalities by which we can cohere if all we do is shout at each other?  Engulfed in the discordant clamor of unlearnt voices, we now witness the triumph of violence of thought that is now often made manifest by violence in deed.
