Both Marcellin and his girlfriend, Nardia Paul of Dos D’Ane residing in Penville, sustained fatal injuries, while the third occupant, a young man from Clifton, was rescued and transported for medical care. Former Director General of the Dominica Red Cross, Kathleen Pinard-Byrne said she feels vindicated after being awarded $75,000 in a defamation lawsuit. The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court awarded the judgment in her favor against former Acting Director General Jaslyn Salmon of Jamaica and the Dominica Red Cross. Pinard-Byrne filed the lawsuit seven years ago, seeking to clear her name and hold the organization and its former acting director accountable. Education Minister Octavia Alfred said Dominica will make a decision on a way forward for the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE). The Dominica Cancer Society, in collaboration with its Men Support Group, is placing special focus on men’s health this September under the theme “Men, Your Prostate Health Matters.” The initiative forms part of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, emphasizing the importance of early detection and encouraging men to take prostate health seriously. The Society notes that while prostate cancer remains a leading cause of death among men, other conditions can also affect the prostate, an essential part of the male reproductive system. The Government of Dominica is set to present a Bill in parliament today to amend the Registration of Electors Act, which initially scheduled the Voter Confirmation Exercise between September 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026. The Electoral Commission, in a letter dated August 21, 2025, advised that the original timeframe under SRO 16 of 2025 was not practical and recommended starting the process on October 15, 2025, instead.
