Reports indicate a man was held at gun point & kidnapped near China Friendship Bridge this morning9/14/2017 Q95 FM has received unofficial reports of a young man, who was allegedly held up at gun point and kidnapped at about 11 am today Thursday, in the vicinity of the China Friendship Bridge in Roseau.
It is alleged that the young man was held at gun point by three men, and that he was beaten and transported away from the area by his attackers. Reports are sketchy at this time, but Q95 FM will continue to follow this story, and bring you more information as it becomes available.

Council elections were held about two weeks ago. On 13th September 2017, the District Development Officer (DDO) met with Councilors and conducted a vote by show of hands, to elect a new chairperson.
Lewis-Jules won 4 votes to 3 over newcomer, Sonia Felix. She got the votes of the three (3) government nominees Ray Charles, Caris Alexander and Charleston Charles, plus her own vote to make a total of four. Felix was got the votes of elected members John Blanchard and Melvina McBonette-Boyer, plus her own vote, which made up a total of three. The incumbent chairperson, elected member Hasselt Williams was not present at the meeting due to illness, and therefore did not vote. He was reportedly a patient at the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH). Laveda Liverpool of Giraudel added to the National Bank of Dominica’s (NBD’s) scholarship program9/14/2017 Laveda Liverpool of Giraudel is the new addition to NBD’s scholarship programme.
This academic year, NBD has sponsored eleven students from secondary schools across the island. The scholarship covers all essential school expenses. The students met with officials of the Bank at a motivational session at the beginning of the school year, where staff of the NBD engaged them in discussions on various relevant topics, including “Being a Leader Amongst Your Peers”, “Your Choices Matter” and “Money Management Tips”. Ms Lilian Polydore, Executive Manager Human Resource at NBD encouraged the students to remain focused, and hoped that the motivational session would help them to broaden their perspectives and make responsible decisions about their future. According to Ms Polydore, “The aim of NBD’s scholarship program is to invest in these young people for future sustainable development. It is important to us to contribute to their growth, not only through financial assistance, but by instilling positive values in them”. Jamaica NHF Agency unable to access supplies as Government and others owe It more than $4Billion9/14/2017 Scores of Jamaicans who depend on the National Health Fund (NHF) for benefits could be at risk, as the agency faces a cash crisis that has developed, because it cannot collect Billions of dollars from beneficiaries, including the Ministry of Health.
At the end of the last fiscal year, the NHF was owed $4.5 billion, with the health ministry accounting for 94% of that amount. To compound the problem facing the NHF, $2.9 billion of what it was owed by the health ministry was overdue, in excess of 90 days, despite the NHF writing off $2 billion that it was owed by the health ministry. That is one of the major findings of a performance audit of the NHF conducted by the Auditor General's Department, and tabled in Parliament on Tuesday. At least 21 students have been killed after a fire broke out at a school in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur early Thursday morning.
Eyewitnesses reported being woken by cries for help from inside the burning building, where children appeared trapped by metal window grills.
