Participants from various industries and across the globe congregated in Rome to celebrate the commencement of the inaugural Global Conference on Sustainable Livestock Transformation. Organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), this gathering intends to tackle the urgent predicament of achieving increased production while minimizing environmental and social consequences, & maximizing economic benefits with enhanced fairness.
The Director of FAO stated in his opening remarks that Livestock production plays a crucial role in our agrifood systems, providing essential nutrients for everyone and improving the livelihoods and economic opportunities of billions of people worldwide. He added that FAO believes that increasing efficiency is key to producing more with less. In the case of livestock, efficiency can be achieved by optimizing feed conversion, reducing feed loss and waste, and improving nutrient utilization. These measures can help alleviate pressure on biodiversity, land, and water resources, as well as reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate environmental degradation

An assessment conducted by the International Labour Organization regarding the progress made towards SDG 8 has determined that "nearly two-thirds of the indicators of progress for SDG 8 show that the world is significantly off track." Additionally, it has been concluded that "the international community is currently just as far from achieving the targets of SDG 8 as it was in 2015".During the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) High-level Week in New York, a new policy brief and a separate report were presented.
SDG 8 has the objective of "promoting sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, as well as full and productive employment and decent work for all." It stands out among the other SDGs as it encompasses all three dimensions of sustainable development, which include economic, social, and environmental issues. Therefore, it embodies the principle that progress in all three areas is necessary, in order to achieve sustainable development Pastor Randy Rodney, host of Q95’s Kingdom Connection Program, asserted that the spirit of leadership over any nation is like a seed that is planted and, like any seed, it brings forth a harvest. He pointed out that over the course of time, Dominica has observed its leadership position being utilized in such a way that no laws are applicable or, if something were to occur, the law would not have the ability to prevent it from doing as it pleases. Rodney further noted that there is a prevailing spirit of lawlessness in the country, spanning from the government offices and parliament to even the businesses and streets of Dominica. Pastor Rodney further stated that when there is no law, chaos is bound to occur. He also noted that the country has reached a point where the person who gives you a hug is the same person who may use a gun against you. Pastor Randy Rodney, host of Q95' Kingdom Connection show

These constituencies enable overseas residents to vote for specific candidates who will represent their interests in Parliament, focusing on development-related matters rather than local infrastructure concerns.
