Attorney Anthony Astaphan has commented on Opposition Leader Lennox Linton’s demand for an explanation, for police having barred him from entering his office in the Parliament building. On Tuesday morning, the Opposition Leader was prevented from entering the Parliament compounds by police officers dressed in army fatigue. Astaphan’s comment referred to the 7th February 2017 unrest which occurred in Roseau, several hours after a peaceful meeting organized by the Opposition Parties, UWP and DFP, had come to an end. Astaphan said it is clear that by preventing Linton from entering the building, the Police chief had taken the necessary precautions to secure the Parliamentary building. Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Lennox Linton has described as “nonsensical”, comments by Attorney Anthony Astaphan, to the effect that by preventing Linton from entering the building, the Police chief had taken the necessary precautions to secure the parliamentary building.
And in his response, Linton questioned whether the building was also secured from other persons who operate therein.
