BCAD President concerned Dominica Small builders & Contractors not receiving opportunities to earn12/8/2017 President of the Builders Contractors Association of Dominica (BCAD) Anthony Leblanc says small Builders and Contractors in Dominica are not receiving opportunities to earn, and utilize their skills in the building process. Leblanc calls on the Government to consider Dominica’s builders and contractors who are skilled, and capable. The BCAD president emphasized the need to ensure Dominica’s construction workers are developed to the point where the human resource can be exported throughout the region, to assist in regional projects. Meanwhile, Leblanc says the Association wrote to Dominica’s Prime Minister Skerrit through the cabinet secretary, on 28th November 2017, requesting an immediate meeting with him, with respect to their concern over a project & procurement awarded to a foreign Construction firm, without open tender. According to Leblanc, the Association has reminded the Prime Minister of the request via email and WhatsApp, days after the delivery of their letter. He says BCAD is now forced to ask, “Is the Government of Dominica adverse to working in a structured way with the local Private Sector?” BCAD President Anthony Leblanc spoke at a BCAD press Briefing on 7th December 2017, at the Garraway Hotel Restaurant, in Roseau.
