Q95 FM Radio has received unconfirmed Information, that high ranking police officers of the Dominica Police Force, who may have been ordered by the Chief of Police, to provide handwritten statements about the 7th February 2017 disturbance in Roseau, may now themselves be the subject of an investigation, to find out the factual correctness of those alleged handwritten statements.
The police officers who were brought to Dominica from CARICOM, to investigate the said 7th February disturbances, have reportedly now left the island and taken those statements with them, for purposes of further analysis. The Skerrit led Administration is allegedly dissatisfied with the preliminary reports of the foreign officers, because they appear not to give credence to the PM’s claim of a coup against his Administration. Reports also confirm that the said investigative team of police officers assigned by CARICOM to investigate the cause of the 7th February unrest, have concluded their investigations, and have reported that there is no evidence of a coup attempt. The report allegedly went on to state, that the evidence they received appeared to point to possible minor charges of obstruction and malicious damage, but because the perpetrators who allegedly committed these acts are so difficult to identify, the state will find tremendous difficulty in successfully prosecuting them. The copy of this report from the regional investigators, is now said to be sitting on the desk of the Chief of Police Daniel Carbon, the Minister of National Security Rayburn Blackmore, and Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit. It is further alleged that when the National Security Minister and the Prime Minister read the report, they questioned the truthfulness of the statements allegedly made by the police officers, and recommended that the foreigners leave with the officers’ statements for further analysis. This latest development in the investigation has raised questions about the management of the police force. It is alleged that several police officers are now reporting sick, and are said to be fed up with the way the DLP government is treating them, and possibly comprising the integrity of their work and their professionalism.
