The Ministers of Agriculture from the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), including Dominica, have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the implementation of the Plan for Food Security, Nutrition, and the Eradication of Hunger for 2024-2030. The meeting, organized by the Government of Honduras in its role as Pro Tempore Presidency, focused on reviewing progress and formulating new strategies to accelerate the plan's execution.
During the meeting, the Pro Tempore Presidency presented actions taken to advance the CELAC FSN Plan and strengthen its four key pillars. These efforts include technical and political dialogues on food security, the systematization of best practices, and strategies for mobilizing resources to combat hunger and malnutrition. An important milestone was the announcement of the launch of the Food Security and Nutrition Platform for Latin America and the Caribbean. This platform, supported by the FAO, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the World Food Program (WFP), aims to provide more accurate monitoring of the region's progress in meeting food security and nutrition goals.
