CEO of PSOJ Dennis Chung says the CBI is a good program idea but some conditions must be considered6/14/2017 CEO of the Private Sector Organization in Jamaica (PSOJ), Chartered Accountant & prominent businessman in Jamaica, Dennis Chung, described the Citizenship By Investment Program (CBI) as a good idea, but says there are a few conditions that must be considered, in order to enhance it and increase its benefits.
He stated on Tuesday, that “What you need to do is organize it in such a way so that you get the value from it, you get the right people coming here, so that you get the right capital coming in, and not just a one-time drop in the bucket”. Chung added that the CBI program is a way of “money coming into the country” and can serve as steps toward development. He suggested that once the “right people” are targeted, they would come in and invest in the country, and might even come to live in the country, and form part of “immigrant labor”, and be “constantly developing the country.” He proposed that the Dominican economy should “open up”, to create a chain of positives, including an increased competitive environment. He said, if you open up the economy to the people who have the capital, from an intellectual and financial standpoint, you can imagine the competitive environment that could be created, to move people into greater innovation and progress. The Dominica Business Forum invited Chung to Dominica, to participate in a program of activities aimed at strengthening the local private sector. He will give a feature address at a luncheon at the Fort Young Hotel today.
