The Electoral Office of Dominica has expressed strong confidence in the security of its ongoing Voter Confirmation process, which is currently taking place across the island. Chief Elections Officer Anthea Joseph explained what makes the system reliable: a multi-layered verification method designed to protect why accuracy and integrity matter in updating the voters’ list. After an initial software-based screening, who participates in the process includes designated officers who manually review and validate each application. The final approval comes from the chief registering officer, providing the last checkpoint before confirmation is issued. These steps ensure that only legitimate voter records are accepted. Joseph also outlined how advanced technology strengthens the process. The system automatically flags duplicate or suspicious entries, prompting verifiers to compare data side-by-side. Officers are equipped with tools such as facial recognition features, photo comparison, and signature matching methods so precise that Joseph noted the system can reliably distinguish identical twins. As part of the identification requirements, the Electoral Office is reminding applicants wherever they report for confirmation to arrive “camera ready,” since their photograph will be taken for the secure Voter ID card, which is essential for participating in national and local elections.
