Environment, Climate Resilience andDisaster Management Minister Joseph Isaac, says “Too many of our people are sick with Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases. Too many people are not properly nourished with foods that we consume. We want to increase vegetable production so that the price of vegetables that are required for good nutrition, can decline and become affordable for the ordinary man”.
Isaac suggests minimizing the use of Agro Chemicals in our agricultural practice to protect our wildlife and our water sources. He contends that Government is totally committed to the development of Dominica in general, and to help to develop our own enterprises, and to ensure that livelihoods are restored in a sustainable way. Isaac added that the UNDP has agreed to reassign and realign their resources, so as to ensure that livelihoods can indeed be restored. He went on to promote the awareness of the use or the abuse of agrochemicals, and asks all farmers to consider organic agriculture, so that production can be increased in Dominica.
