DAIC President Kira Thompson-Aird is pleased with the Association’s initiatives post Hurricane Maria4/23/2018 DAIC President Kira Thompson-Aird, has expressed thanks to the many sponsors who came on board to support the programs organized by the association post hurricane Maria. In a press release dated 20th April 2018, she broke down some of the main activities held and the purpose behind each one.
Thompson-Aird said the steadfast goal to enable our Membership and the economic environment continues in 2018, commencing with representation of our Membership at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank 2nd Growth Dialogue for Social Partners in St. Kitts. Coming directly out of this Dialogue we accepted the invitation to participate in the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica National Rebuilding and Economic Partnership Consultation, aiming to represent your inputs and role. Following this, DAIC’s Business Recovery Expo was hosted. We thank our Sponsors for their unwavering support and extend a special thank you to our presenters who brought insights and guidance to participants in their recovery and rebuilding strategies. Following the Expo was the launch of the ARISE Dominica Chapter, partnering with UNISDR and CDEMA. According to Thompson-Aird, “each week has been filled with engagement after engagement and we have sought to capture these within this Edition. Opportunities have been identified, not just locally and regionally but internationally, as far as India! Our Executive Director represented us well in the UK, meeting with the British High Commission and UK Rotary International, aiming to solidify support for our businesses in our mammoth task of recovery”. “Despite our consistent reach-out to you on a one-on-one basis, we wanted more and established the Round Table Dialogues to address this. Thank you to those of you who were able to participate and provide the crucial inputs which guide direction, discussions and in some instances, elements for DAIC’s annual National Budget 2018/2019 Submission. However, we are far from the end of our mission and welcome feedback to enable us to serve you better”.
