Meanwhile, the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) is said to be undertaking a needs assessment of its members, in order to help them going forward, in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Green said this activity is meant to help establish what went wrong, and what they need in order to get back on track, and function as businesses. He said the members lost close to five hundred employees, and noted, “This is a fluid number, because with constant restructuring, the number may grow and then reduce again, as people get reallocated or relocated, based on reduced roles, or changes in roles, or other facilities that are being put forward; but it was a substantial blow to the continuity of people’s lives as employees and functioning members of society”.
