DBF to host CEO of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ) Mr. Dennis Chung, from June 13 – 15

​In view of the challenges facing the Private Sector in Dominica, and the urgent need for the Caribbean Private Sector to get better organized; the Dominica Business Forum (DBF) will host the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ), Mr. Dennis Chung, from June 13 – 15, 2017, to meet and engage with members of the private sector of Dominica.
 
According to a release, the primary objective of the collaborative initiative is to assist in helping to develop the capacity of the private sector umbrella organization in Dominica, to carry out its mandate effectively, to strengthen the operations of the local private sector, and to learn from the PSOJ experience in Jamaica.
 
At a recent forum where more than one hundred representatives of the private sector were in attendance, more than fifty (50) major challenges which affect the success, profitability, growth & sustainability of business establishments in Dominica were identified. Some recommendations were made to improve the situation, which required action by the private sector organization itself, as well as the government, and other support organizations nationally, regionally and internationally.
 
The schedule of activities for Mr. Chung’s visit include, a luncheon which will be held on 14th June at the Fort Young Hotel, from 12 pm. to 2:30 pm, and a public/private sector discussion that same evening, from 7 pm, also at the Fort Young Hotel, for anyone who is interested.  One-on-one consultations with interested private sector companies will also be arranged. 

Business Development Officer at the Dominica Coalition of Service Industries, Lizra Fabien, said there is much knowledge to be gleaned from the success of the Jamaican Private sector.

​Additionally, Fabien said there are a number of opportunities available globally, for the development of Dominica's private sector.
