DDA Chairman Benoit Bardouille says Dominica recorded 4.9% increase in Stay-Over Visitors in 2016

​Chairman of the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA), Benoit Bardouille, says according to statistics, stayover arrivals recoded for 2016 was 78, 129 as compared to 74, 481 in 2015. He stated that Dominica therefore recorded a 4.9% increase in stayover visitor arrivals in 2016.
 
He said an increase of 2.9% has already been recorded for the first quarter of 2017.

​He says the cruise industry on the other hand, recorded a decline in visitors in 2016.
 
This he says was as a result of last minute cancellations and inclement weather conditions.

​Meanwhile, Concerns have been voiced by many tourism officials here, for stakeholders in the industry to make greater efforts at providing quality service to visitors.
 
Poor Service quality is said to have been an issue for some time now. It has allegedly also been one of the main reasons behind the island receiving low ratings in some instances.
These latest concerns were expressed by Chairman of the Discover Dominica Authority, Benoit Bardouille.
 
He says there is need to re-tweak, to ensure that service quality is improved.
