Discover Dominica Authority through the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, has invited all primary and secondary schools on island, to participate in its 2017 Tourism Youth Essay Contest, as part of the activities for Tourism Awareness Month (TAM).
Geared at increasing Tourism Awareness among students, the topic for this year’s contest was “Write to an adventure seeker taking them on a journey to Dominica. Describe the people and the many different attractions, culture and foods that he/she will experience.” This year’s contest attracted entries from the Soufriere Primary School, St Martin Primary School and the Convent High School. Devon Nicholas of the Soufriere Primary School emerged winner of the junior category while Melissa Williams of the Convent High School emerged winner of the senior division. Discover Dominica Authority congratulates Devon Nicholas and Melissa Williams on their achievement. DDA is hopeful that the success of these students will encourage participation from their peers and other schools on island, in future competitions. The Tourism Youth Essay Contest is held annually, serving as a medium for creativity and education for students, while seeking to promote and stimulate awareness among Dominican students, that Tourism is Everybody’s Business!
