General Secretary of the Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) Johnson Boston says the vicious persecution levelled at the Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) and the United Workers Party (UWP), by the Skerrit led Dominica Labour Party (DLP) government, is unfortunate and unwise.
For the past two weeks or so, Police Special Service Unit Officers (SSU) have been consistently dispatched to the homes of prominent opposition leaders and officials among others, at very early hours in the morning, to search their homes and then take them into custody for several hours. Some of those who were detained included UWP Senator Dr. Thomson Fontaine, DFP General Secretary Johnson Boston, DFP executive member Dr Sam Christian, UWP former Senator Claudius Sanford, and Roseau Central MP Joseph Isaac. All of them were subsequently released after several hours, with no charge, with the exception of UWP Senator Claudius Sanford, who was charged only with obstruction. Boston told Q95FM Radio, the way in which the Dominica Police Force is carrying out these investigations, into the cause of the violent acts which occurred on the night of 7th February 2017, is mindboggling.
