DFP’s Bernard Hurtault dismisses Prime Minister Skerrit’s outrage over UWP’s court case against the DLP Regime, on the constitutionality & accounting of components of the management of CBI program

Political Leader of the Dominica Freedom Party, Bernard Hurtault, has expressed shock and disappointment at the outrage & statements made by Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, over the weekend and on Monday at a press conference held at the Financial Center conference room - Where the Prime Minister labeled the Executive of the United Workers Party as Terrorists!
 
Prime Minister Skerrit is seemingly upset, as the United Workers Party filed a landmark case in Dominica’s the High Court on September 24 2024,with respect to the Skerrit-led DLP Administration’s alleged mismanagement of components of the country’s CBI Program and the proceeds arising the reform. The UWP has hired Trinidadian based Attorney & Senior Counsel, Anand Ramlogan to lead that court case.

​Many on social media have called the Dominican Prime Minister’s statement, highly politically charged and dangerous, promoting increasing animosity between Dominicans who support the Dominica Labour Party, and those who support the opposition forces.
 
Hurtault told Q95 news on Monday Afternoon, that the Prime Minister should have cooperated with the Opposition Parties (the DFP and the UWP) over the past 20 years, when they first began to identify and warn his government of the consequences that would follow, from his administration's ‘cloud of secrecy’ in managing the resources of the Citizenship by Investment program. 

​Hurtault sought also to remind Prime Minister Skerrit of the purpose of opposition parties and the incredibly important role these entities play in preventing societal chaos, organized crime in governance, misconduct in public office as well as their role in preventing the stealing and mismanagement of state funds and assets.
