The Digital OECS Harmonised Primary Curriculum (D-OHPC) has advanced significantly following the successful completion of the Digital Curriculum Hackathon, held from September 3-5, 2024. This groundbreaking event represents a key milestone in the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission's efforts to standardize and elevate educational quality across Member States. The D-OHPC aims to ensure all children have access to a culturally relevant, high-quality curriculum designed to develop critical thinking, innovation, creativity, and cultural sensitivity among young learners in the region.
The digital curriculum will promote regional integration and enhance pedagogical practices, providing educators with multimedia resources for flexible, adaptable teaching. Offering both online and offline formats to address internet access challenges, the curriculum will enable blended learning and interactive instructional environments. The OECS PEARL Digital Curriculum Hackathon brought together 14 young experts from across the OECS region, specializing in areas such as coding, AI, virtual reality, and digital marketing. They collaborated with educational professionals to create digital solutions aimed at transforming the curriculum. Their efforts focused on designing interactive tools, a centralized curriculum repository, and AI tools to support educators with lesson planning, particularly for students with special educational needs.
