Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project began US$1M pre-engineering design works for East Coast roads

​The Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project (DVRP) has reportedly begun pre-engineering and design services for the East Coast road works. The DVRP in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works will repair 43.3 Km of road from the Pond Case roundabout to castle Bruce, and Castle Bruce to Hatton Garden and Petite Soufriere respectively.
 
Officials say the designs for the road will cost in excess of US$1Million. Liaison Officer in the Ministry of Health Dr Martin Christmas says the designs for the roads will meet the highest level of resilience.

The kick-off meeting was launched Monday with Spanish Contractor Tip-Saw. Planning Ministry PS Gloria Joseph says the road works are timely.

Meanwhile, the Designs Project Manager Medina Alfonso says it is important that Dominicans are engaged in this phase of the project.

The execution period for the contract is approximately 11 months.
 
The East Coast Roads Rehabilitation is funded by the World Bank and the Government of Dominica.
