According to a Press Release, the Dominica Olympic Committee (DOC) is celebrating Olympic Day on Saturday, 24th June 2017, marking the 123rd Anniversary of the Founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), with the observance of Olympic Day, under the theme “Move, Learn & Discover”. This year’s event is scheduled for 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Saturday 24th June 2017, with participants of all ages gathering at the Tourist Reception Terminal on the Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard, from 2:00 pm. It begins with the traditional Run/Walk and will be followed by a demonstration of sporting activities at display booths along the boulevard, by various national sporting associations. Preceding the event, the message of IOC President, Mr Thomas Bach, will be read by the President of the DOC, Mr Billy Doctrove. Runners are advised to wear an Olympic Day T-shirt they already own if possible, to showcase the history of Olympic Day in Dominica. The DOC is appealing to the general public, to support this year’s event, which is open to all age groups. Wheelchair-bound members and cyclists can also participate, since the route has been modified to suit everyone, and they should all gather at the Roseau Tourist Reception Terminal from 2:00 pm. Members can also register online on DOC’s website. Olympic Day Map
