The Dominica Association of Evangelical Churches is throwing its support behind a call for electoral reform for Dominica. Pastor Lennox Timothy told a national consultation on electoral reform at Goodwill Parish Hall Tuesday that Dominica's election laws must be protected. Tuesday's consultation was organized by the Concerned Citizens Movement. Meantime, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says his government supports electoral reform, and took amendments to the election laws last year, but debate on the amendments were suspended when a crowd gathered outside parliament to protest. Skerrit said at the time parliament would be suspended to ensure the safety of staff and others at parliament. However, the UWP said the specific amendments to the election laws as proposed by the DLP government at that time encouraged bribery; but PM Skerrit denied that claim.
