Dominica Freedom Party describes Prime Minister Skerrit’s recent presentation at the DSC as treating6/13/2018 The government on 6TH June 2018, presented a check to the Dominica State College (DSC) to settle all outstanding fees by students. Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, presented the check of over one million dollars to the institution during a ceremony at Stock Farm. “The government took a decision to write off and pay off the outstanding fees of everyone in the country who owes the college, irrespective of who the person is,” he stated. He said the presentation is important in the wake of Hurricane Maria when many people in Dominica lost everything. Meanwhile, speaking to Q95 news on 12th June 2018, Executive Member of the Dominica Freedom Party and Prominent Businessman, Michael Astaphan, says this act by the Prime Minister, is in an effort to trick the students coming into adult hood as they are first time voters. Astaphan deems this move by the Prime Minister as nothing short of treating, which is illegal based on Dominica’s constitution, and sought to advise, Financial Secretary Mrs Rosamund Edwards, and is also calling on the Police Chief, the Attorney General and the Bar Association of Dominica, to intervene immediately.
