Dominica Government receives important data from the UKHO re the island's seabed, stemming from surveys started in September 2018
The Dominica Government witnessed a handing over ceremony to receive data of the island's seabed from the UK Hydro-graphic Office (UKHO).
Work commenced on the west coast in September last year.
PS in the Ministry of Public Works Denise Edwards says Dominica through the Maritime Administration is responsible for ensuring safe coastal navigation, and to ensure that the shipping lanes, and routes around the island do not pose any danger.
Edwards says the research concluded by the UKHO includes surveys, depth surroundings, and imagery of the sea bed in the vicinity of the island's ports of entry, which is reported critical for commerce and trade in Dominica.
