Dominica National Women Football Team left for St Kitts on Monday for the 2018 CFU Challenge Series

​Dominica’s National Women’s Football Team left island on Monday for St Kitts to compete in the 2018 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Challenge Series. Five overseas-based players are included in the line-up. The team will kick off its first game against host country St Kitts on April 18, 2018.
 
The five foreign-based players comprise Dominica Football Association Female Footballer of the Year Romelcia Phillip who is a freshman at Louisiana State University, Alexandria. The others are Britney Stoute, Kylee Bertrand, Kira Bertrand and Sari Finn. They will join 15 locally-based players in the squad of 20, under the guidance of head coach Rajesh Joseph Latchoo.
 
Dominica’s team will be led by experienced defender Roselia Registe, and includes seasoned campaigners Christina Sobers and Keanna Francis. The team also has a youthful blend with the 16-year-old US based player Sari Finn and 17-year-old Naisha Joseph as the youngest players in the line-up. The Nature Island girls will face host country St Kitts from 7:30 pm on April 18, in the second match of a doubleheader. Two days later, they will face St Lucia with their third and final game against St Vincent on April 22, 2018, at the Warner Park Sports Complex.
 
The full team is made up of: Kimberly Elie, Christina Sobers and Keanna Francis (goalkeepers) Kylee Bertrand, Rosilia Registe (Captain) Naisha Joseph, Kim Phillip, Keandra Francis and Donnisha Xavier (Defenders) Ezra Elwin, Romelcia Phillip, Kira Bertrand, Cassandra Augustine Henrica Samuel and Britney Stoute (Midfielders), Sari Finn, Chazelle Phillip, Michlyn Morgan and Kasika Samuel (Strikers).
 
Just before the departure of the tea, Coach Latchoo said he is confident that the team will give a good account of itself. Lotchoo said, “The players are not where I would have liked them to be, but they did well during the training sessions that we have had. If they stick to the game plan, the team can be a troublesome one”.
