The Commonwealth Games will be held in Gold Coast, Australia from 4th to 15th April 2018. The Gold Coast 2018 Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) is a unique symbol of the Games with its journey connecting the 71 Commonwealth nations and territories. It engages communities, and provides an exciting platform for thousands of people, to ‘share the dream’, ahead of the quadrennial celebration of Commonwealth sport.
The QBR started at Buckingham Place on Monday, 13th March 2017 – Commonwealth Day. At the commencement ceremony, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II placed her message into the Baton, and entrusted its journey with the many baton bearers who will carry it around the Commonwealth. On Wednesday, 14th June 2017, the Baton will arrive at the Douglas Charles Airport in Dominica at 3:15 pm, accompanied by a delegation of five (5) persons comprising Head of Delegation, QBR Liaison, QBR Media Liaison, QBR Asset Custodian and QBR Photographer. The QBR delegation will leave Dominica on Saturday 17th June 2017 at 7:05am. While on island the Dominica Olympic Committee (DOC) will be responsible for all logistical preparations for hosting of the Baton.
