Dominica Police, Jamaica Defense Force, & Trinidad Contingent hosting ‘Run for Nature’ this Saturday11/17/2017 The Dominica Police Force, Jamaica Defense Force, and Trinidad Contingent are hosting a ‘Run for Nature’ this Saturday 18th November, under the theme “Together We Can, Together We Will’. Second in command of the Jamaica Defense Force, Aubyn Sibblies, says the run will be aimed at raising awareness and funds for Dominica post Hurricane Maria.
Sibblies asked Dominicans to participate and show their strength and resilience. He added that “The run will occur in four areas in Dominica: Salybia, Portsmouth, Grandbay and Roseau. What we are asking Dominicans to do is to come out, and show your true strength. Show the strength of Dominicans that we have been seeing since we have been here. Help to raise funds for Dominica, and show that CARICOM is here”. Meanwhile, Representative of the Trinidad & Tobago Contingent, Darryl Sookdeo explained the start points and routes for each of the four areas. He noted that the run in the east will commence from the Salybia Primary School, going two and a half kilometers out, then turning back to the starting point. In the west, which is Roseau, the run will begin at the financial center, continue along Independence Street, then unto Bath Road, turn unto Hillsborough Street, then along Bay Front, along Victoria Street through the Botanical Gardens and then end at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium. The North run will begin at Ross University, two and a half kilometers to the Portsmouth Police Station and then back to the start point. In the South, which will be Grand Bay, they will start at the Geneva Bridge, make their way through the Boulevard, through Grand Bay, and to Lower Powell, then make a turnabout which will be two and a half Kilometers and back to the start point, which is Geneva Bridge.
