The Board of Governors of the Dominica State College (DSC) has expressed concern over the industrial action taken by faculty and administrative staff on Monday, February 24, 2025. Addressing the issues raised, the Board emphasized its commitment to ongoing salary negotiations and infrastructure improvements.
The Board clarified that salary discussions for 2023-2026 are part of a job reclassification exercise requiring input from the Dominica Public Service Union (PSU). It noted that DSC staff salaries generally align with those of secondary school teachers. Regarding campus renovations, the government has invested over $4 million, with Blocks A, B and C fully refurbished. Further upgrades, including the auditorium and auto-mechanics room, are pending cost assessments. The Board also refuted claims of unsanitary washroom conditions, stating that faculty have designated restroom facilities. It reaffirmed its commitment to constructive dialogue with staff and the PSU to resolve concerns collaboratively.
