Dominica’s President Charles A Savarin says the recent natural disasters caused by climate change have shed light on the importance of urgent focus on mitigation and climate financing
In his speech delivered during the General Debate of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly on Thursday, the President of Dominica, H.E Charles Saverin, highlighted the clear and overwhelming nature of the challenges faced globally. He emphasized that the climate crisis is a persistent issue that cannot be ignored, exemplifying this point by referring to recent incidents of wildfires in Canada and Hawaii. The President stressed that these events have brought to the forefront the urgent need for focused attention on mitigation efforts and climate financing.
Mr Savarin further stated that Dominica is urging for a resolution to the Conflict between Russia and Ukraine, emphasizing the need for sincere negotiations to overcome their differences.
