General Secretary Thomas Letang acknowledges that being one of the most vocal Trade Unions on the island, has caused the Dominica Public Service Union (DPSU) to be labelled as 'partisan', by Government forces. The DPSU is challenging the Government to find the money to pay salary increases to public officers. At a recent DLP rally in Portsmouth, Prime Minister Skerrit bat spoke out against Trade Unions whom he claims, are operating as allies of the opposition parties. But Letang says he is not in bed with any political party. He says the union will continue to be very vocal, on issues that affect its members. Meanwhile, General Secretary of the Dominica Public Service Union Thomas (DPSU) Letang says Trade Unions must never be denied the opportunity to engage in debates, consultations and talks, which determine the economic direction and prowess of a democratic country.
On 24th April 2017, a National Consultation was organized by the Government, however according to Letang, the DPSU was not properly informed, in order to participate meaningfully at the consultation.
