The Dominica Public Service Union (DPSU) has expressed concern over recent statements made by the management of the Public Works Corporation, which suggested that the union had misrepresented information about delayed salary payments.
In response, the DPSU reaffirmed its previous claims that employees, including monthly paid staff and fortnightly paid workers, had endured significant hardship due to unpaid wages, with monthly workers facing delays of up to two months and fortnightly workers unpaid for two pay periods. The union pointed out that their proactive approach to addressing the issue was intended to highlight the ongoing problem of delayed payments, which has become a recurring issue at the Corporation without any substantial effort from management to resolve it. According to the DPSU, the union's public statements were aimed at expressing the frustration of employees and drawing attention to the situation, urging management to take meaningful action. The DPSU condemned management's response as misleading and an attempt to deflect responsibility. The union reiterated its commitment to advocating for its members, vowing to remain steadfast in its efforts to ensure that employees are treated with the respect and fairness they deserve.
