DPSU refuses the most recent salary offer from the Government of Dominica’s salary negotiating team4/18/2017 General Secretary of the Dominica Public Service Union (DPSU) Thomas Letang has responded to the new offer offered made by the Government of Dominica, to Public Officers. Letang says the Executive has respectfully informed the Government that its members will not accept that offer, and has requested that a better offer be presented. Letang added that the DPSU Executive is scheduled to meet with Government in May 2017, and will further discuss its position on the Governments offer, in this ongoing negotiation for salary increases, for the next triennium. Meanwhile, the Dominica Public Service Union is gearing up to celebrate May Day with three major activities planned. Among the activities planned is a second solidarity rally under the theme " The DPSU: United in purpose, United in Action". The rally will take place on Thursday April 27th from 4.30pm. DPSU General Secretary, Thomas Letang, has advised members to not be deterred by possible propaganda. Other activities include a Solidarity luncheon on Friday April 28th and a Solidarity Wellness Walk on Monday May 1st 2017.
Meanwhile, Letang has taken up issue with the date announced for the formal opening of the Roseau West Bridge. The West Bridge will be formally opened on May 1st 2017, a day set aside for the working public. May Day is often recognized by Trade Unions here with various activities. Letang is of the view that this move by the Government does not give the impression that they are willing to work with Trade Unions here.
