DSC reinstates College Career Week from April 18 - 21 under theme ‘It’s Your Future, Step to It’4/18/2017 The Department of Student Affairs and International Services of the Dominica State College, says it is reinstituting College Career Week throughout the week of 18th to 21st April 2017, under the theme, It’s Your Future, Step to It!
Career Development Officer at DSC, Ms Ellena Bowers, sees Career Week as necessary to assist students in obtaining information, exploring the professional landscape, and providing them with tools and resources to enhance their eligibility for employment, as well as for progressive skills development. According to a release, the week starts off with a Panel Discussion on the topic,” Preparing Yourself for the Global Job Market”. Panellists include with Mrs Hazel Cadette, manager at Perky’s Pizza, and Ms Tamara Lowe, manager at Tropical Shipping. These corporate professionals are expected to offer the students tips on navigating the job market. Other activities include workshops on Resume writing, budgeting and university search among other things. A second panel will discuss the pros and cons of social media in professional life. The week will culminate on Friday 21st April, with a Job Fair that is intended to provide students an opportunity to network and interact with Human Resource Personnel, and a Fashion Show aimed at demonstrating the proper attire for the workplace.
