Education Minister reiterates Government commitment to integrated Early childhood development6/19/2018 In a workshop organized by the Ministry of Education & Human Resource Development in collaboration with UNICEF and the OECS Secretariat, Education Minister Petter St Jean says the Government is committed to developing an integrated approach for the delivery of early childhood services in Dominica. St Jean says successful early child development is key for the future development of the country. The Minister’s comments came at the start of a National Sensitization Exercise to support an integrated operations framework for the Early Childhood Development Sector. Ministry of Education says 66 preschools and 11 daycare centres are now registered with the Early Childhood Education unit and are now operational, following Hurricane Maria. Education Minister Petter St Jean says 1534 of these children are now back at school. St Jean says government will continue to invest in Early Childhood education. Minister for Education Petter St Jean Meantime on UNICEF and the OECS Secretariat are collaborating with Dominica in that regard. Dr Tristy Nichols is a UNICEF consultant.
