Outspoken Member of the Electoral Commission Wayne James alleges that there is a plot to silence him and fellow Commission Member Hillary Shillingford. However, he assures Dominicans at home and around the world, that he will continue to stand for them. Speaking on Q95’s ‘Talk on the Block’ yesterday Wednesday 21st June 2017, James called on Dominicans to be vigilant. He said without the two of them on the commission, there is no telling what posture the Electoral Commission will assume, and what it will do. And Electoral Commissioner Wayne James also says he was an eye witness to treating and bribery in the 2014 General Elections. James said he saw persons brought in from the Diaspora, who were sponsored by the Dominica Labour Party. He added that many who were bribed, openly confessed that they were being paid and given things, to vote for the Dominica Labour Party. Meanwhile, member of the Electoral Commission Hillary Shillingford calls on Dominicans to stand ready to confront the Government’s plot to legalize treating and bribery. He says Dominicans must be prepared to take even stronger action against these proposed amendments to the Electoral Act. The DLP Government recently went to Parliament with plans to amend the Electoral Act, however, Dominicans took to the streets in protest, and forced the Government to adjourn Parliament without further consideration of the proposed amendment.
