DAIC Executive Director Lizra Fabien has announced some new initiatives and projects to be undertaken, in an effort to advance, educate and develop the Private Sector in Dominica, post Hurricane Maria. Dominica’s private sector was damaged by Hurricane Maria in September 2017, and by the looting which took place thereafter. The DAIC says it has been vigorously pursuing initiatives to assist, develop and revamp Dominica’s private Sector. Meantime, Fabien says DAIC accepts the report of Financial Secretary Rosemund Edwards . Recently Dominica Permanent Financial Secretary Rosemund Edwards gave an excellent speech at the recently held National Consultation on ‘rebuilding and Economic Partnership,’ emphasizing that government will have to prioritize some rebuilding projects over the next five years. Edwards also stated that Dominica’s GDP and revenue will decrease considerable over the next financial year, due to the destruction caused to the economy by Hurricane Maria. DAIC Executive Director Lizra Fabien says after Edwards speech, the feedback of the business community here is that they are in agreement with the statistics presented by her.
