Executive member of the Rapid Needs Assessment Team (RNAT) and Seaport Specialist, Darwin Telemacque shares some of his experiences in Bahamas following the destruction of Hurricane Dorian. Speaking via telephone interview, he expressed what his role was within the collective group of RNAT, as a seaport specialist, as well painting a picture of the type of team members and professionals he had been paired with in their role to gather crucial data. He says their responsibility was to go in there and first look the specific areas they were assigned to then collect data that would be used to provide an estimate of what it would take to get things back on track. He says when taking into consideration the duration of time that the hurricane stayed causing damage on these people, as well as the magnitude of the hurricane, the types of horror these people faced has to have some serious impact on their lives, on an emotional and psychological level.
