A Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) delegation is visiting Dominica from yesterday Monday 31st July, and will host a town hall meeting with Cruise stakeholders’ today Tuesday 1st August 2017, from 5:30 pm at the Fort Young Hotel. FCCA last visited Dominica in May, 2013, and focused on experiencing the island’s popular cruise sites.
The three-person delegation will be in Dominica until Wednesday 2nd August, and will comprise FCCA President Michele M Paige, and Cruise Executives: Leon Sutcliffe – Director, Commercial Ports of Call & Government Relations of Carnival Cruise Lines, and Federico Gonzalez Denton, Associate Vice President-Government Relations – Latin America & Caribbean, of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Dominica’s Tourism Minister Robert Tonge invited cruise stakeholders to be part of the discussion, which is reportedly meant to create an opportunity for stakeholders to hear directly from the FCCA officials, on the cruise industry trends and expectations, among other topics. While on island, the FCCA delegation will meet with government officials, and will visit select locations including the Roseau Cruise Ship Berth. On the heels of the proposed meeting, Dominica hopes this visit will help secure much greater collaboration with tourism stakeholders, in terms of the Cruise Lines expectations, so as to improve visitor experience on the island, and hopefully would attract additional calls by the various Cruise Lines.
