Many smiles are soon to be placed on the face of our beloved elderly persons here in Dominica. Earlier today a ceremony was held in Giraudel Dominica which will see the Giraudel Retirement Home Rehabilitation Project kick off. After Hurricane Maria the Giraudel complex housing a few elderly persons were severely impacted leaving its rooving and other areas damaged. This resulted in the relocation of some these beloved elderlies. Today many heads and hands have come aboard in collaboration with Premium Home and Residential Care Services (Pharcs) to not only to repair but to rebuild the housing complex to more resilient manner. FIAPA (International Federation of Associations for Elderly People) which is an international non- governmental organization that works in the interests of seniors and elderly people within the main international organizations such as UNO, WHO, UNESCO, THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE, EUROPEAN UNION, played a major role in funding as well as ground work. Project manager Diego Rossi shared a bit of the conception as well as the vison shared. Project manager Diego Rossi Meantime , Charles Anin, a French National from the sister island of Martinique is one of the key figures in making this a reality and shared his role in all of this. Mr. Anin says that after Maria he contacted the PHARCS Dominica and organized to find out what was needed and how they could help. They were instrumental in having galvanize lumber, food and others made available to those in need.
